Lauren Kasdan is a delivery driver who delivers food on days and nights. One day she was delivering food and it was a quiet night. Around 11 pm, she dropped the food off on a customer’s porch and then texted them that the food had arrived, and then walked back to her car which was parked right nearby.
It was maybe two or three minutes. When she got back, there was a cat in the car. She was hallucinating for a second. It was just a cat but it was hard for her to process. The front windows had been partially opened. The cat has granted the invitation. When Kasdan got back, the cat who was named Athena later was not startled at all. It was as if she had been waiting for her.
She acted like she was supposed to be with her. She sniffed the seat and the middle console like she belonged there. when she saw Kasdan she didn’t even try to run. She climbed onto her lap and purred.
Athena seemed she had been living on her own for a while. She was thinner, dirty, and covered in fleas. She didn’t know where the cat had come from, but there was no way she could leave her on her own.
Kasdan headed straight to Walgreens to get some cat food and litter. Then she headed to her mom’s house to get Athena all settled in.
Athena was so grateful to Kasdan and her mom. She knew that they are going to help and keep her with them. So she was calm and even when Kasdan had to bathe her to get her cleaned up, she was cooperative with her. She settled immediately and at first, and she meowed pretty loudly at first. But when she started to scrub her with flea and tick shampoo she started purring. Then she warmly wrapped her up in a towel. She fell asleep in her arms.
Kasdan even checked if there were any microchips on her. But she didn’t find any. For a long time, Kasdan and her family have been dog people. But when she found Athena, they knew that they are going to keep her.
Athena is settling very well in her new home now. She gets everything she needs constantly. It was a lucky hop that she made into Kasdan’s car that night. That one hop changed her forever!
