One day, while a construction project was happening at his home, Ludwig C. Timm looked out his bathroom window and saw something very endearing, and he says: “At first, we only noticed a few small twigs that were lying on the windowsill. We thought the wind had blown it there. Then we saw the squirrels building.”

A family of squirrels had chosen the spot right outside his window to build a nest and start a family. As Timm was a photographer, this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness this up close gave him the chance to document the whole thing. Timm went on to document the family building their nest, to growing up, and he took the best photos and uploaded them all onto his Facebook page.

Keeping a close eye on this squirrel family, the photographer didn’t forget to take daily snapshots of the lives of this family as they grew up. Out of all the photos, one that really stands out is one where the squirrels are all snuggled and cozied up together enjoying a blissful nap.

Timm also says: “It was very lucky for me to be able to take the picture of the sleeping squirrels. Normally they’re inside the nest, but it was hot that day, so they slept where I could see them.”

Although this is something very basic, seeing this up close is something to get very excited about. The photographer also had this to say: “It’s a very nice coincidence [that they chose that spot]. We got to see the squirrels grow up.”
