Prayers will not stop terrorism in the world. Dalai Lama commented regarding the shooting and bombing in Paris.

The Tibet Buddhist Spiritual Leader, who is also a Nobel Prize Winner was interviewed on Monday by German media outlet Deutsche Welle about is his opinion on the bombing and attacks. He further stated that terrorism is started by humans and humans themselves have to fix the mess they created without seeking God’s help.

“People want to lead peaceful lives. The terrorists are short-sighted, and this is one of the causes of rampant suicide bombings. We cannot solve this problem only through prayers,”

“I am a Buddhist and I believe in praying. But humans have created this problem, and now we are asking God to solve it. It is illogical. God would say, solve it yourself because you created it in the first place.”

The Pope also asked his followers to join him with prayers after the Friday series of shooting which killed at least 129 people.

Dalai Lama states further that it’s useless to depend on politicians too.

“So let us work for peace within our families and society, and not expect help from God, Buddha or the governments,”

“The problems that we are facing today are the result of superficial differences over religious faiths and nationalities. We are one people.”

The New York Times, During Dalai Lama’s trip, reported that he said “compassion, dialogue — peaceful means” are the “real antidote” to terrorism.

“‘Terrorism comes out of hatred, and also short-sightedness,” Dalai Lama further stated.
