So, you’re saying animals don’t have feelings?

“Humans aren’t as good as we should be in our capacity to empathize with feelings and thoughts of others, be they humans or other animals on Earth.”  – Neil deGrasse Tyson

Tyson got it right. We being the most intelligent creatures on Earth are responsible for the most barbaric actions on Earth. So it’s pretty ironic when we call ourselves ‘the most intelligent ones’. One example is that people think that we are superior to any other creature. That’s why people tend to think that animals don’t have feelings, they don’t feel a thing because they are just animals.

Trust me, this is where we got everything wrong because animals do feel. Maybe more than people.

When Zhuangzhuang was born, his mother didn’t love him as other mother-elephants. Her reactions as she tries to stamp the baby just after he was born terrified the keepers. However, they thought it was an accident. They took the baby elephant to treat the wounds and took him back to his mother. But, when she attacked again, they realized that they cannot keep the baby elephant with the mother. So they took him from mother permanently.

This is when he started to cry. He cried for 5 hours straight. So, the Shendiashan Wild Animal Natural Reserve tried their best to console the baby elephant.

Finally, he could get over the traumatic situation and enjoy the life around him.
