Senior shelter dog asks for tuck-in from the staff every night

Not only humans, but some animals do have their habits too.

Meet Sandy. The senior terrier mix has a special routine she looks forward to every single night. Sandy lives in the Galesburg, Illinois, shelter since October 2021. As a senior dog, she got luxury treatment from the staff. Among them, there is one sweet thing you will love, and that is Sandy’s favorite too.

“Sandy came to the shelter back in 2013” Lou Ann from the Knox County Humane Society told. She was running at large and no one claimed her. Over the last few years, she had found a couple of different homes. But she surrendered during the pandemic when her parents became ill.

After that, to help her feel more at ease the staff came up with a bedtime routine, especially for her. Since she is there at the shelter Sandy has picked up the routine of getting tucked in every night. When it’s time to sleep she jumps up in her chair and one of the rescue staff will tuck in her. It has become an almost every-night thing that she looks forward to.

Even at this age, Lou Ann says that Sandy still has the energy of a young pup. And she shows it. But most of all, Sandy is a total lovebug thanks, in part to a good night’s sleep.

Lou Ann says that she is very sweet and loving. They hope she will find a forever home where she would get tucked in every night.

She loves dogs, walks and car rides. But she really would love to be where she can rest easy and create a brand new nighttime routine with her new family.
