Meet Apollo, the 700 pound lion-tiger crossbreed

So, thanks to this massive feline we found, the term “big cat” was extremely refurbished. Say hello to Apollo, who’s a lion-tiger crossbreed and recently earned the title ‘world’s biggest cat.’ This liger is a hybrid of a tigress and a male lion. After taking a walk in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with Mike Holston and wildlife conservationist Kody Antle, this gentle giant gained notoriety, and the footage uploaded on YouTube went viral immediately.

Ex-football star Holston had this to say: “This big guy’s name is Apollo and he is the biggest cat on the planet. Now the question is, what would this thing eat? I believe it would eat everything in sight, anything in sight. I think a pack of these things would take down a herd of elephants on the regular for a snack. Such a majestic beast, and it can get up to 40 miles an hour in a couple of steps.”

Holston also goes on to add that the feline’s teeth are the size of his middle finger, its’ lungs are perhaps as big as his torso, and that its’ tongue is as big as his forearm. He also says that its’ neck is too large for either of the men to wrap their arms around. These massive creatures can grow up to 12 feet long, and weigh up to 795 pounds, which is twice than a tiger or a lion. People are also comparing Apollo to the prehistoric sabre-tooth tiger, which is said to go extinct 42,000 years ago.
