Kitten Adopted by Rescue Bunny and Duo Becomes Best Friends

From the very beginning, Echo and Ashoka have had a very close bond. They are a 5-year-old rescue bunny and a 12-week-old kitten. And the duo spend the majority of the time together. Although having her own feline siblings to play with, Ashoka prefers her best bunny friend for everything, including cuddling. In an interview, Echo and Ashoka’s mom, Ryanne Palermo had this to say: “We thought having siblings would be great [for Ahsoka] and they’d be together, and it would all be grand. But she chose the bunny over her own [littermates] and bonded to Echo instead.”

Echo was a rescue bunny who was rescued by Palermo from The Animal Foundation. The rescue bunny became a safe haven for Ashoka, as he protected the little kitten from the other pets they lived with, and Echo only allows Ashoka to enter his cage. Palermo continues: “Echo ruled the house. All other animals feared him — except for Ahsoka, who just loved him. He was the king and she was his queen.”

When the kitten and bunny watch TV with their mom, the majority of the time, they cuddle up to each other. Palermo also says: “All [Echo] wanted to do was snuggle with my husband and I and Ahsoka. It’s Echo’s world and we just live in it.” However, it was a sad situation when Echo passed away in July. Even after the loss of his protector and best friend, Ashoka still sleeps in Echo’s bed, keeping the memories of their unique friendship and bond, alive forever.

Palermo also had this to say: “They were always snuggling and sleeping together. She enjoyed playing with his ears, too. She was always gentle and he seemed to love it. They brought so much joy to our lives. Seeing them together and so bonded always just made us so happy and made our hearts full.” Although Palermo has no intention of rescuing another bunny soon, she knows that if she does, “Queen” Ashoka will surely show the new bunny all the things that her “King” Echo had taught her, including all the cuddles that they once had.
