Dog Saves Owners Life Just in Time Before Meteor Crashes onto Bed

Say hello to Toby. Toby is one of the sweetest and most attentive rescue dogs, living in Canada with his human, Ruth Hamilton. Since the time Toby was rescued and adopted by Ruth, they have been inseparable, and recently, Toby proved to be her savior and hero as well.

Some time ago, while Hamilton was asleep, at around 11.30 pm, she was awoken unexpectedly by Toby, whose message seemed to be urgent. In an interview, Hamilton had this to say: “He barked twice, as if to say, ‘Get up!’ It was a loud bark. My family likes to believe he caused me to roll over.” This unexpected event was indeed a good thing. Within seconds, directly overhead, the woman heard a crash.

Moments later, a huge chunk of meteor came crashing through the woman’s home at an extremely high speed, and landed on the exact spot where she had been sleeping. Hamilton added: “I jumped out of bed. I was totally uninjured. Toby stopped barking, and I thought, ‘Did that really just happen?’”

The woman had later reported the incident, and investigations had confirmed that the rock was most likely from outer space. There had also been other witnesses in the area, who have confirmed seeing a meteor crashing to Earth sometime that evening.

Toby’s warning may have saved Ruth’s life that day. But we have to wonder, how did Toby know this would happen moments before? The woman adds: “I was told there is sometimes a bang when meteors enter the atmosphere. He might have been responding to that. Being a dog, his hearing is better than ours. But we’ll never know for certain.”

The rescue pup is always very quick in alerting Ruth to any sound such as animals outside or approaching cars. Whatever said and done, his vigilance extends to outer space dangers as well. Although the wreckage left by the meteor can be repaired, this incident could have ended in a much worse way if it hadn’t been for the dog she had rescued. Finally, Hamilton adds with a laugh: “Toby has been great company. I love him. My grandkids think ‘Paw Patrol’ should make an episode about him.”
