Dogs have always been admired by people due to their friendly, caring and faithful nature, as their hearts are open to all who need comfort and care, and they defend those who need defending, referring not only to people, but to all living beings. The story we’re unfolding today is that of this German Shepherd named Sarge, who is a compassionate dog towards orphaned little fawns.
Cheryl Stephan is Sarge’s owner, who is a big-hearted lady, who over the years adopted many orphan animals, including young fawns. Although Sarge has a very friendly demeanor with all the animals Cheryl adopted, he had a special connection with Buckheat, the first orphaned fawn adopted by his owner. On first meeting, Sarge took a liking to the fawn and became his guardian. Getting involved in all aspects of the fawn’s care, Sarge went to take on the important role of the fawn’s “mom”.
Sarge followed Buckheat wherever he went, making sure everything was ok. When the fawn grew up and became independent, he used to venture out alone, and that’s when the German Shepherd would go and bring him back, and when Buckheat was grown and was strong enough, Cheryl released him to the wild, which made Sarge very sad.
Cheryl was worried that he’d never be as friendly towards the other animals like he was with this fawn. However, she was proven wrong. Later on, as Cheryl took on other fawns for rehabilitation, Sarge showed that compassion he had shown his former friend.
Cheryl was glad to see Sarge becoming a baby-sit for these creatures she took on to look after.
