Being Alone is a Blessing in Disguise

“We are meant to be in relationships with other people, but just as surely, we are meant to partake of aloneness. To deny this part of our existence is a little like trying to walk the earth on one foot instead of two” – Florence Falk

The statics show that 50 percent of American adults are single and almost 27 million live by themselves. So, it’s clear than we tend to prefer the loneliness over a company.

It’s hard when you live alone. It’s quite depressing and there’s a tendency that living alone could lead to health risks like heart disease and depression. Yet, the people who are learned to live alone know the hidden happiness in it.

So, here are 7 reasons why being alone is good for you

  1. It’s time to get to know you

When you are with others, it’s hard to decide who you really are. That’s why we learn the reality of ourselves when we are alone. By being alone, we get plenty of time to dive into our thoughts and realize what we really need.

  1. You get the chance to enjoy your own company

It’s better to be alone rather than with fakers. Trust me, when you are alone, you start to focus on yourself. So, you go on looking for activities, things which make yourself happy. This is not selfish. This is healthy because, by being happy, you get to live a better life.

For this, try to find a simple activity you love to do. Gardening, walking, watching a movie, listening to songs, etc, it’s your call.

  1. You find the haven in you

At the end of the day, there’s no one for you but you. So, with time, you get to understand who you really are and you realize that you are beautiful in your own way.

  1. Your confidence will boost

“ With the realization of one’s own potential and self-confidence in one’s ability, one can build a better world.” – Dalai Lama

If you are sure that you have you no matter what you go through, then there’s no need to accept others. For this, you need self-confidence with yourself. Eventually, you will be able to trust no one else, but you.

  1. Time to think for yourself

This means you take control of your life. When you spend time with yourself, eventually you realize that your focus should be on you. It doesn’t matter what other people say because that’s what they do. No matter what you do, there’ll be someone to judge you. So, stand on your ground.

  1. You will embrace the independence

This is about your life and how well you gonna spend it. Being independent you will have the freedom to do whatever you want to do. You wanna have a tattoo, travel around the world? Well, who is stopping you?

  1. This is the time for creativity

When you are alone, you find the time to do what you love. If you have ever loved painting, singing, hiking, gardening, then this is the high time you started what you love. By this, you will realize how amazing your life is. Rather than reminiscing about the past, try to use the time by doing what you love.

“If you make friends with yourself you will never be alone.” – Maxwell Maltz.
