The Overlooked Detail from Kate Middleton’s Hospital Visit That Left Us Speechless

This month has certainly taken a strange turn as not only King Charles but also Princess Kate are both currently admitted to the same London hospital. For the Royal Family, this marks the most significant health crisis since that notorious incident involving off lobster thermidor.

But here’s the odd part: why haven’t Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis visited their mother?

It’s now been 12 days since Kate was admitted to the London Clinic for abdominal surgery—12 days during which her young children haven’t seen her. The day after Kate’s admission was made public, Prince William stepped into full-time dad mode, spotted leaving the clinic in his $268,000 electric Audi after visiting her. Since then, sources report he’s been making daily visits, but the question remains: where are their kids?

And what about Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, and her siblings, Pippa Matthews and James Middleton, with whom she shares close bonds? James, for example, has opened up about Kate’s support during his mental health struggles, sharing how she attended therapy sessions with him.

It’s not a case of avoiding the press, either. The Daily Mail’s royal editor, Rebecca English, explained that the media has agreed not to station photographers, camera crews, or journalists outside the hospital to respect Kate’s privacy as well as that of other patients. So, in theory, George, Charlotte, and Louis could visit their mum discreetly.

One explanation for the kids’ absence, reported by the Sun, is that William and Kate want things to feel as normal as possible for them. This seems reasonable, but—here’s the thing—what about the weekend that just passed? Instead, the kids were reportedly spending time at their grandparents’ $7 million Bucklebury estate, which, while cozy, raises the question: isn’t a hug from Mom worth the drive?

The family’s home, Adelaide Cottage, is just a 45-minute drive from Kate’s hospital, so logistics aren’t really a barrier.

The situation seems even stranger when you consider the big picture. The Waleses are known for their hands-on parenting style, with both parents often taking time off during school holidays to bond with the kids. An aide even mentioned that their current motto is “100 percent family first, day job second.” So, it feels at odds with that philosophy for the children to be absent.

Of course, no child would enjoy seeing a parent in a hospital bed. It’s a distressing sight. But it’s possible they’d find comfort in seeing her, especially knowing she’s recovering.

The Daily Mail’s English suggests that “royals don’t tend to visit each other in hospital” often. But, in recent years, only Prince Philip has been in and out of the hospital, making this precedent less applicable. Moreover, some old customs set under the late Queen—such as avoiding hospital visits—are shifting in favor of a more contemporary, emotionally open Royal Family. For instance, King Charles quickly made his way to Kate’s room when he arrived, and Queen Camilla visited her husband three times in 24 hours.

At a time when the Royal Family should be rallying together, things have taken an unexpected turn. Maybe it’s time for a bit of sage, a few crystals, and a solid shaman to clear whatever odd energy is clouding over Buckingham Palace.
