On December 6, 2024, Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, hosted her fourth annual Royal Carols: Together at Christmas at Westminster Abbey in London.
This beloved tradition began in 2021, when Kate not only organized the concert but also played the piano in a heartfelt tribute to those who lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, the event was dedicated to honoring the memory of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
This year, the concert aired on ITV at 7:30 p.m. U.K. time on Christmas Eve, December 24. Kate was joined by her husband, Prince William, and their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

“Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year. It is a time for presents, tinsel, and mince pies, but it’s also a time to slow down and reflect on the deeper things that connect us all,” Kate said in her opening remarks. “It is when we stop and take ourselves away from the pressures of daily life that we find the space to live our lives with an open heart, with love, kindness, and forgiveness — so much of what the Christmas spirit is all about.”

She continued: “The Christmas story encourages us to consider the experiences and feelings of others. It also reflects our own vulnerabilities and reminds us of the importance of giving and receiving empathy, as well as just how much we need each other in spite of our differences.”
During the evening, a sweet moment between Kate and her youngest son, Prince Louis, captured the audience’s attention. Known for his playful and endearing public antics, Louis once again melted hearts. Lip reader Nicola Hickling analyzed a clip shared online where Kate smiled warmly at her son. According to Hickling, Louis sweetly said to his mother, “We’re looking out for each other.”
The event carried extra significance this year as Kate celebrated her recovery from cancer. After undergoing abdominal surgery in January 2024 and sharing her diagnosis publicly, she announced in September that she is now cancer-free. The news was met with immense relief and joy by her supporters worldwide.
