Life in the wild isn’t easy at all for a cub. When it is Masai Mara in Kenya, it is especially hard. One moment of distraction was enough for this lion cub to put its life in danger. When its mom took her eyes off him, the little one unluckily fell over the edge of a vertical cliff.
After he saw himself down there he was alone and helpless! He started to cry out for help. The mother was not far away from him, and she quickly arrived with three other lionesses and a male. However, the cub’s fate seemed sealed as rescue would have to the lion’s life in danger.
No words can express a mother’s love for their kids. The lioness decided to risk her life in the attempt of saving the little one. And now the drama begins!
Fortunately, the wildlife photographer Jean-Francois Largo managed to capture the dramatic scenes on camera.
The mother slowly reached to her scared baby down. She carefully stepped on the slippy hill, using her strong claws. It seemed that she knows, one single mistake would put an end to both her and the cub’s life. Finally, she got him in her jaws. The cub feels he is safe now but the danger is not yet over. The hard journey is back again! The mother carefully stepped forward and it ended up with both the mother and the cub well and unharmed on the solid ground above the cliff.
Finally, everything seems fine and the exhausted heroine of the drama gave her baby a lick to let him know that he is safe!
