Annabelle Camp found a skinny little puppy on the side of an unnamed road in Georgia and decided to take him home. She named him Mason and cared for him at home. But she knew she couldn’t keep the stray, because her grandmother wouldn’t allow it.
So she agreed with her grandma that he would go to the Humane Society as soon as they had a foster open for him. So it will be a maximum, a week.
When there was no foster available, Mason was placed in a boarding facility until he was strong enough to search for his forever home. But while there he fell ill and was hospitalized. When Camps heard it, she begged her grandma to allow the dog back in the house. She agreed but wasn’t happy about it. Camp was over the moon. She gonna have a baby back!
Under Camp’s care, Mason healed and soon thrived. She knew that all this had happened for a reason, and she was right.
It was a Monday night and Camp awoke to Mason standing over her in the bed and barking in her face. “I shot up out of bed and knew something wasn’t right. He loves his sleep” Camp wrote on Facebook.
“Mason jumped down and gave me the follow-me look,” she continued. Then he ran down the hallway, where he knows that he is not allowed, and into her Grandmother’s room. She followed him into her bathroom and found him standing over her grandma licking her face and just screaming and whining.
Camp’s grandma was unconscious due to her heart condition. Thanks to Mason’s quick action Camp was able to get her grandmother’s heart started and avoid the worst that was going to have happened.
Even though he is not allowed to be in his grandmother’s room, there was never a question that he would be there in her time of need. “He knows what it’s like to have his life saved, so he knew he had to do the same for someone else,” Camp said. “Even if my grandmother does just barely tolerate him.”
So finally it is like Mason’s heroic act won over Camp’s grandma. When she told the next day to the Grandma that Mason saved her life, she yelled ‘Thank you Mason’ and now she pets him when she sees him. “She loves him in her way,” Camps said.
