Ellen DeGeneres Announces Retirement from Stand-Up Comedy
Ellen DeGeneres, the renowned comedian who has captivated audiences for years, has revealed that she is ending her stand-up tour, “Ellen’s Last Stand…Up.”
During a performance in Santa Rosa, California, Ellen shared with the audience that this would be her final tour. When asked about future appearances on other platforms, such as Broadway or movies, she responded honestly, “No, this is the last time you’ll see me. After my Netflix special, set to air at the end of 2024, I’m done.”
Several of Ellen’s upcoming shows, including dates in Dallas, San Francisco, Seattle, and Chicago, have been canceled. While she has not yet addressed the cancellations, Ellen expressed her gratitude to her fans, adding humorously, “Let me catch you up on what’s been going on with me since you last saw me. I got chickens.”
Addressing recent controversies, the 66-year-old comedian made a light-hearted comment, saying, “Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean,” a nod to the allegations against her. She then joked about potentially being “kicked out for being old.”
Despite these challenges, Ellen firmly rejected the notion of being mean, asserting, “I am many things, but I am not mean.” She reflected on her changing public image, noting, “I used to say, ‘I don’t care what people say about me.’ Now, I realize I said that during the height of my popularity.”
Despite the hurdles, Ellen remains appreciative of her loyal fans. Let’s celebrate her remarkable career and the joy she has brought into our lives.
