Sleep helps our body to recover and repair itself, while helping us focus and be more productive. SO it is  important for our happiness.

In the book titled NurtureShock, authors Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman tell about a specific study that found that sleep-deprived people do not remember so much positive memories as negative memories. In one experiment, sleep-deprived university students tried to memorize a word list and could remember 81% of the negative terms, but could only remember 31% of the neutral or positive words.

Another study using facial recognition has shown that naps can block or even reverse negative emotional reactions, while stimulating happy reactions.

The quality (and duration of your sleep) has a powerful effect on your feelings and your general attitude throughout the day. Even just lying down improves your sense of humor!

Many scientific studies (more than 200 in 2013) concluded that meditation has many benefits, including statements by the American Medical Association that meditation is a beneficial practice.

One study in particular involved neuroscientists from Harvard University who had conducted a study showing that the brain could be physically modified through meditative practice.

In this study, anatomical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of 16 healthy participants was taken before and after their 8-week Attention-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program. This program is one of the most practiced by those who seek a better mental functioning and a better emotional control.

Once the program was finished, a second set of magnetic resonance images was taken. The images showed a higher concentration of gray matter in 4 regions of the brain, including the hippocampus and cerebellum, responsible for learning and memorizing processes and emotional regulation! Participants reported improved mental treatment, emotional balance and other benefits.

With all this scientific support, it is easy to understand why meditation must be immediately recognized as a source of access to be happier!
