A Florida man who got caught stealing $300 from Kmart was a found to be a millionaire

A Florida man who spent $ 8 million on the purchase of an island earlier this month is now accused of stealing $ 300 worth of goods from Kmart a week later.

Police officers in the Key West Police Department arrested Andrew Lippi, 59, on Saturday for a charge of stealing $300 to less than $ 5,000.

According to the authorities, between March 30 and April 5, Lippi allegedly stole $ 300.59 worth of goods at a local Kmart, including a Keurig coffee machine, a Hamilton Beach coffee machine, eight bulbs, and a bed skirt. According to the Miami Herald.

Police said Lippi bought the items, but then returned the original boxes with other items inside.

For example, a box that allegedly contained a $ 165 Keurig coffee machine contained a basketball, while a used coffee machine replaced a new Hamilton Beach model in another box.

Lippi denied having stolen the items, according to a police report obtained by KGO TV.

"I asked Lippi that the Keurig coffee machine had been replaced by a basketball and that the employee should have realized that there was no coffee machine because of the weight of the box," the official wrote in the report. "I asked Lippi about the light bulbs, and he said he had returned them because he paid too much for them and did not know how they had been manipulated."

Lippi denied the charges to the Miami Herald and blamed the incident on a "commercial dispute."

"It's very complicated and I prefer not to enter."

Lippi was released without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on April 18.
The arrest comes a week after Lippi bought Thompson Island in Key West for $ 8 million.

"I think we're going to live there for a while," Lippi said, according to the Florida Keys News.

Lippi also owns the resort "Real World" resort used for season 17 of the MTV series.
