Women throws a ‘divorce party’ to herself to celebrate the end of her marriage

Falling in love with someone wonderful is the easy part, committing to a life with this wonderful person is sometimes almost impossible.

Recently, Catherine Navarro, 34, of New Jersey, organized a divorce party to celebrate the end of the years she spent trying to divorce her husband.

The beginning of the end began on Friday, May 13, 2005, when Catherine married her ex-husband, Marc, when she was only 20 years old.

Before the day of their marriage, the couple had a very strong commitment, deciding to say "I do" just a week before.

This meant that their friends and family had a week to organize the "last minute" wedding before the wedding at the New York City Hall.

Unfortunately, it was not meant to be happy for the couple. In 2012, Catherine filed for divorce to get out of the "toxic" marriage, but Marc did not let her go. Shortly after, Marc skipped on Catherine and disappeared, creating a nightmare for her while trying to prove to the court that she had looked well for her husband, to obtain a divorce in his absence.

Finally, after a long struggle, she divorced on March 18, 2019. It was then that she decided to embark on a "divorce party" held with the help of her friends.

Catherine, telling the story of her convicted marriage, said: "Marc and I decided to get married at my cousin's reception a week ago, Honestly, I thought he was kidding at first because we were drinking and we were on a dance floor at the time, but a few days later he talked about my dress and flowers. "

she continued: "I  called my best friends at once, all of whom attended the divorce party, before going directly to the mall with my mother, where I found a beautiful white silk dress for only $ 80. I ordered a white cake two levels with lilies on the side. As I am still doing several things at once, I ordered it while doing my nails and asked my best friend to choose lights and decorations that would create the atmosphere of a reception in the living room my parents. "

As for the day of the ceremony, Catherine said it seemed like an ideal day. "The day could not have been more perfect, it was an absolutely beautiful day for a ceremony at the City Hall of New York, the witnesses included my best friends, my bridesmaids and, of course, my mother.

Then she added: "I quickly realized that I did not know him at all and that there were too many secrets." The first divorce process began about seven years ago and the lawyers were involved, but he refused to accept the conditions. Blind by love, I finally gave up the idea and promised to continue working on our marriage. In the end, we separated and during this period that lasted almost a decade, I tried to apply for divorce several times, but he refused to sign the papers. "

Catherine has found her way to a long and complex freedom.

"When things collapsed again, the road to final divorce was a real journey, Marc disappeared from the surface of the planet and I did not know anything about him or where he was," he said. "When this happens, when you cannot find your husband anywhere and desperately want to break the legal ties, it is possible to seek a divorce in his absence, but you have to prove that you have searched everywhere."

Once she could prove she had tried, and failed, to locate Mark, she was granted the divorced.

To celebrate her freedom, Catherine invited about 30 of her friends and family to a party with an assortment of "boy, bye" cupcakes, as well as a great "straight out of marriage” cake .

Feeling relieved and finding a new life, Catherine commented: "I had been preparing for years, in the day I finally got divorced, my closest friends, who had seen me throughout this trip, and I decided to celebrate the occasion with an amazing party. I was so excited to finally find my maiden name and get rid of my husband, it made me very happy. As soon as it was finalized, I felt I was 20 years old again and had a new chance to love. "

"Among the highlights of the party was a decadent cake in which had written “straight  out of marriage" written on top of it, surrounded by some happy photos of me when I was single, we had cupcakes with custom made toppers with phrases, like" boy, bye ". The balloons said "happy divorced" and there was a "finally divorced" film panel, which served as a photo back-drop, of course, we also had a lot of accessories for the party, and my favorite was a sign that said: “we didn’t liked it anyway" because my friends did not," she added. . "The food was simple: light snacks, a platter of meat and cheese, fruits and chicken wings, we ate, laughed and danced all night, it was fantastic."

Catherine too had some recommendations: "I would definitely recommend a divorce party to anyone if it's a happy occasion that brings joy, instead of collecting old memories.

And despite everything that happened, she  also had some new advice for other people who might be in similar circumstances. "Everything happens for a reason and for me, finally, everything went for the best, do not stop in the past and accept the lessons that each experience provides Life is too short to live a relationship that does not make you happy, either legally or not. "

It seems that now she is going to live his best life and we wish her the best. And let's hope that if she decides to look for love again, this time it will be the amulet.
